C Tutorial User's Manual
For each topic in the C Tutorial, there is an imagemap and an animation
to help illustrate the main ideas of that topic. In addition, for each category
of topics, there is a quiz you can take.
ImageMaps
To see an imagemap for a topic, click on the ImageMap link to the right
of the topic. A new web page will appear, with at least one graphic image.
Each of these graphics is an imagemap, containing multiple links to other
web pages. Depending on where on the graphic one "clicks", different information will be retrieved. Try clicking on different areas of the imagemap, and
notice that these imagemaps can be used as flashcards to help you study the
material.
Animations
To obtain the movie, click on the Animation link, and
wait for the movie file to be downloaded. This may take several
seconds. When the movie has been successfully downloaded, a new
window will appear on your screen. The animation will be shown in this window when the start button is clicked.
- To START the movie, click on the lower left button of the
movie window. (This button is in the shape of a triangle, "pointing"
toward the right.)
- One can STOP the movie at any time, for example, to take more time to read the text displayed at a particular point. To STOP the movie, click on the lower left button on the movie window. (This button is square, with 2 vertical stripes.)
- There is a REWIND to use if one wants to view the animation again. To rewind, click on the second button from the right on the bottom of the movie window.
- The speed of the movie can be altered as it is playing by clicking the mouse on the moving button on the bottom of the movie window, and dragging that button along faster or slower.
Quizzes
To take any of the four quizzes, "click" on the QUIZ link for the
particular category of topics. A web page will appear as a form, with spaces
provided for one to enter one's last name, first name, class section, and then
answers to various multiple choice and true/false questions. Click the mouse in
each space and then type in the requested information. At the bottom of
each quiz page is a button labeled Grade Quiz. When this button is clicked, the quiz will be graded and a new web page will be generated, showing the results. The correct answers for any missed questions will be displayed, followed by the student's name, class section, and score.
